Material Girl

Material Girl is the topic of the current Top Tip Tuesday challenge.  As well as challenge entries they like to share hints and tips with their followers and love to hear of theirs too.

I am also sharing this with Divas by Design  anything goes

Word Art Wednesday #143 Anything goes

So before I show my entry I'll share a tip with you too.  It's one I use when both scrapbooking and card making.  When I'm putting cards into envelopes and pages into sleeves if they are 3 dimensional I cover them with a sheet of plain paper. This stops embellishments from getting caught up and/or damaged on the the envelope or sleeve.  Once they're in just slide the piece of paper out and the elements will all be intact.  Simples!

Now my entry.  It's neither a scrapbook page or card after giving you the tip lol. It's a page in my art journal.  I'm still new to this and as yet have to find a style of writing that I'm happy with.  My own handwriting is really untidy so I'm finding it quite difficult to be tidy(ish). If you're interested in trying this out check out the Doodle Page link on my side bar and Lori's blog at

I've recently got the sewing bug back after a very long absence and I'm enjoying patchwork and bag making in particular and I've tried to show this on the page.

Materials used

Moleskine Journal
Aquatone water colour sticks from Derwent and water brush
Graphite pencil
Uni Pro fine liners

Christmas in July

Another Christmas card to add to the, as yet, small collection.  I must pull my socks up! I'm entering this into the following challenges

Creative Card Crew #67   Christmas

The Pink Elephant #261  Anything goes

Christmas Card Challenges #35 Anything goes

I've used a Forever Friends 8"x8" paper pad for this card.  It has some die cut decoupage as well as co-ordinating papers.  I've layered the images using a glue runner instead of 3D foam keeping the thickness of the card to fit in with the standard postal charge here in the UK.  I layered the background paper onto gold card and added a peeloff greeting to finish it off

Materials used

Forever Friends 8x8 paper pad
glue runner from Create and Craft
Gold card from stash
Peeloff from Craft Creations

My first box card

I thought that is was about time that I tried the new 'in' box card and I really enjoyed making it.  I love it when someone else has done all the hard work of designing and measuring.  It gives me more play time :)  It's for my darling granddaughter who will be 3 next week.  It seems next to no time since I jetted off to see her in Germany when she was 10 days old

I'm entering it into the challenges at
Sister Act #67  Anything goes

613 Avenue Create #82 anything goes with the option of using a sentiment

The Pink Elephant #261 anything goes

The papers are from the Nit Wits Collection Bonnets and Bows (I love their papers) and the balloons were cut from a 12x12 paper that I've had since the year dot! So glad to have found a use for it at last.  The balloons were all on acetate strips adhered to the inner structure and the 3 was on 3D foam squares on the back face of the card.  The sentiment was computer generated and double matted to the plain papers.  I finished it off with some Anita's flat backed pearls in pink.  I'll be popping it into the post tomorrow to make sure it gets there in plenty of time.  I hope she likes it

Anything Goes is the Way to Go!!

There are so many challenges around with an anything goes theme it's not difficult to show off with our projects. So here's my list of challenges for this card

Addicted To CAS #43 with a celebration theme

Less is More #182  Anything goes

Sister Act #67  Anything goes

613 Avenue Create #82  Anything goes  with the option of using a sentiment

The Pink Elephant  #261 Anything goes

This is a design that I do over and over and I love trying out new colour combinations for it.  I was particularly pleased with how this turned out.

I stamped the face image first and then masked it over.  Next I took a piece of copier paper and tore it in two.  I laid this over the right hand side and mask that was already there. then I inked over the remaining visible card with a lighter shade of ink then over-stamped it with a script using the same ink as the the focal image.  I also used it to stamp the sentiment and finished off by wrapping a ribbon around the spine

Materials used

Facial stamp from Inkyliscious
Script stamp from Artemeo
Memento inks
Sentiment stamp a magazine freebie

You're never too old..........

I thought that I would share this scrapbook page with you.
I am entering into the challenge at 613 Avenue Create which is anything goes, and The Pink Elephant #261, another anything goes

Also,  I am going to enter it into the Word Art Wednesday challenge #142  It's always an anything goes challenge with the option of using the word art that is shared in the post.  If you don't use it then they ask that your entry is uplifting in some way.  I don't think I could beat this for uplifting my spirit lol  We found the photographs when we were sorting out my Father-in-Law's house. We think they must have been taken about 15 years ago, maybe more, as Adrian can't remember exactly when his uncle died and, unfortunately, they have all since passed away.

I have tried to keep the page happy and bright with the choice of colour, papers and embellishments, I've even journalled direct to the page in my own handwriting which is a first on a big project

Left to right they are
Bill, Adrian's Dad - Rita, Adrian's Step Mum - Jack, Bill's brother -  Thelma, Jack's wife

The journalling is hidden under the centre photograph and reads more or less as I have said above

Materials used

Assorted papers from stash
Papermania Capsule collection for the  flowers and centres
Uni fine liners, pencil and paper stump
Alphabet stamps from Dimension Stamps with Memento ink pad
Large paperclip from Asda

Me To You!

I made this card for my great-niece using a Papermania Me To You card blank and the papers and the topper are from a Me To You card kit I bought at a craft show many years ago, before Papermania got the publishing rights, from Inspire Me Papers.  I bought three kits in total and each one made only 3 cards. Priced at £10 per kit they were rather expensive but, luckily, there was a show offer on which was £10 for all three sets. I used a large alphabet stamps set from Dimension Stamps with Memento ink for Erin's name.

I'm entering it into the following challenges

613 Avenue Create #81  Anything goes with an option of party time/celebration

Sister Act challenge #66  Anything goes
