Hi there!

Just a line to let you know that I'm still in the land of the living :o)  I've been using my time stitching some gifts for our daughter and our son for their homes at Christmas. And I've taken on the task of finishing off the cards for Elizabeth for which she has done cross-stitch designs.  They're really gorgeous and she is so neat with her stitching.  This is what happens when you're an 'old married woman', you get all crafty lol  I'll take some photos to show you before I give them back to her

Happy Crafting everyone and I'll pop back shortly

Be Still..........

This is another entry into my inspirational journal.  Now that I've finished my Christmas cards I'm trying to catch up with my journal and scrapbooking.  This will be during the 'wee small hours' when I won't be making enough noise to wake hubby in the next room.  Daytime crafting time is being spent at my sewing machine hoping to get my Christmas gifts  finishedin time!  I'm entering this page into the following challenges

I took this photo with the journal standing up on my table as I have it during my crafting time.  The papers are from a Trimcraft paper pad, Wild Flowers, which has some gorgeous glittered papers, like the floral one which I have used.  The sentiment is from Cuddly Buddly printed on Safmat by Letraset.  I used Spellbinders Decorative Labels 8 to cut the sentiment and also a white one.  I cut the centre from the white one and then coloured it using a putty coloured ProMarker to blend with the papers. I placed it over the sentiment panel matching the decorative edges.  The floral paper was trimmed using Spellbinders Classic Triple Scallop dies. I also used a coral ProMarker to colour the Papermania flower, the centre of which is a circle from scrap card covered with Glitz glitter glue.  I put pieces of very strong dsst (red liner) along the joins of the paper and added Glamour Dust.  To finish I added some fine lines of Quickie glue pen and Glamour dust to the edges and creases of the flower

This photo is showing the page laying flat as it was when I was working on it.  The label frame hadn't been added at this point.  So much easier to work with the spiral bound journal.  Also the colour shows better than on the previous photo

In The Beginning.......

I saw a card on Facebook with a scripture verse on it and thought that it beautiful so I looked on the site Cuddly Buddly and the digi stamp that I had seen was one of a set of 15 quotations.  The one I had seen was the cross shaped one, Proverbs 3:5-6 but felt led to the John 1:1 verse.  I am entering this page of my Word Art Journal volume 2 into the challenge at

I much prefer to work in volume 2 rather than one as with it being spiral bound, using my Bind-it-All, It is easier to use when I can turn the pages so that I am working on one layer and not worry about embellishments on other pages.  I also like the way it will stand upright on my table and I can choose whichever page I want as my inspiration, spiritual or creative.  The striped paper was a magazine freebie and the other papers are scraps from my scrap box.  I used Nestabilities to cut the papers to size and used a white gel pen to draw the lines on the top and bottom on-point squares.  I had printed the verse onto Safmat from Letraset, a clear film which you can hardly see when it is burnished down.

I used kraft card for the base card and decorated it with three papers from the Ella's Designs 12 Cards of Christmas cd..  I tore the tops of the papers for a rough finish and added Glamour Dust after I had used a Quickie glue pen.  I decoupaged the reindeer using 3D foam pads and added glitter glue to the pompom on his hat.  I created the sentiment on the pc and used Spellbinder's Labels 8 to die cut the white and red mats.  I can't make my mind up as to whether or not I should add Glossy Accents or use a line of a white gel pen to highlight the nose.  What do you think?

This is a lucky dip of everything!  I got my file of bits and pieces of papers and, with my eyes closed, I opened it at random.  The poly wallet contained these lilac papers from Papermania.  I don't think that I'll ever use this stack up, I'm sure it must photocopy itself when I'm in bed lol  After I had attached the papers to the page I used a Tanda Stamp of a double running stitch over the joins using Memento ink.  next I routed around in my box of clear stamps, again with my eyes shut, and retrieved this set of Hero Arts stamps which I stamped with a brown Memento pad for a softer look.  I then coloured it with my ProMarkers and then cut it out leaving a small white border.  Using Letratac dry adhesive I attached the flower and stem on an angle on the page.  My next stage was to repeat the feel and choose method as before with my sentiments stamps.  I thought that the sentiment was perfect for the layout that I had created without sight for the choice of papers and elements.  I had trusted in the Lord for this one and he guided my hand perfectly.  The stamp is an Ippity stamp by Unity and, again, I used a brown ink pad. After cutting the sentiment to size I used a Fiskars 3 in 1 punch, Heritage, to trim the corners.  I created the journal with my Bind-it-All

I'm not a lover of tent fold cards, they fall down too much lol, but I do like landscape cards.  I cut my base card in half and on one of them I make a crease 1" in from the left hand side. I tore a piece of card to fit the front panel and roughed the edges with the blades of my scissors. I decorated this using Nitwits Great White North collection.  I printed off 3 background papers and tore across them to create the background.  I used a Quickie Glue Pen along the torn edges and then added Glamour dust.  I also used them on the top paper highlighting the snowflakes.  Next I used glitter glue all around the panel.  I did the small panel on the left in the same way before tying ribbon around it and adhering it to the back piece of card.  the crease then creates the hinge for opening the card.  I had trimmed the penguins to two individual figures, decoupaged them and then threaded silver cord through the card to create the reins which showed across the front of the first penguin.  I then added glitter glue to the second penguin's hat and attached the sentiment that I had done on my pc

Our Little Princess

Once I've added the remaining Christmas cards to my blog I'll not be around as much as I will be making a start on sewing some Christmas gifts.  Hopefully it won't be too long and they'll be finished too then I can carry on with my knitting lol.  I feel as though I've been knitting this jacket for myself, forever :)

This card is for our 3 year old granddaughter who is absolutely dotty about all of the Disney princesses especially the ones from Frozen at the moment. Whenever she's allowed to choose her clothes 99% of the time it will be one of her princess dresses.  When we went to see her last month she was allowed to choose her clothes on the Sunday and we went for a walk.  She looked ever so funny with her Snow White dress, pink jacket and mittens (we had given her the mittens with a hat and scarf) and floral wellington boots!

Anyway here's the card and I think I can safely say that she'll love it.  I'm entering it into the challenges at

I used Ella's Designs 12 Cards of Christmas cd for this card.  I love Ella's cd's, even though essentially there are only 12 cards there are a lot of options for creating a card from just printing off a one layer card to digi stamps that you can colour yourself.  On the one layer card the front envelope has a general Christmas greeting on it but there is a blank envelope you can print off and personalise.  I used a Quickie Glue Pen on the snowy parts of the card and on the leaves and flower centres and then added Glamour Dust.  I used 3D foam to layer up the elements

I love this patchwork reindeer from Woodware Stamps.  It looks really good when coloured with my ProMarkers but I love doing paper piecing with it.  A fabulous way to use up scraps of paper.  I stamped it twice onto card with Memento ink and on the one that was to be my base panel I coloured the hooves, bell, nose, antlers and went around the outside with a very pale grey, for the shadow.  I then stamped it on bits of papers that were in my scraps box which had dots on for the challenge at Paper Pretties.  I cut them all out very carefully so that they would sit together neatly using Letratac dry adhesive (sadly no longer in production) on the image that was not the base card.  After I had done this I coloured the heart and the holly with ProMarkers. I cut the reindeer out minus his hooves, bell, nose and antlers and used a wet glue to stick it on top of the base image.  I feels as though I've used a chipboard shape and gives a lovely effect.  I trimmed the base layer and used my Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper on two opposite corners.  It was only as I came to put the sentiment on that I realised I had done the wrong corners lol  I layered it onto kraft card and corner cut those corners too.  The sentiment was computer generated and mounted onto kraft card.  As I said I then realised that I would have to cover up one of the curved corners.  The background paper is from the sampler cd in the Crafter's Inspiration Christmas pack

I have made this as a one layer card as I didn't think it would work having the birds and flowers on panels across the card.  The stamps are from a set from Crafter's Companion, Clearly Hand Stamped.  I coloured them with my ProMarkers and fine nibs.  I find that using the fine tips the ink hardly, if at all, bleeds through the card.  The best wishes stamp is by Woodware

Baubles and Bows

This is the first card of my huge Christmas order, well maybe not that huge there only being five of them!!  I used to make tons of cards for various people and events but year by year it's got less and less.  Hubby used to get a lot of orders for me from his workplace but he was made redundant when the firm closed down and I was selling less each time I did a craft/Christmas fair as more and more people started making and selling them.

I made a card last week which was a 6x6 card using a Crafter's Companion embossing folder and gold vellum.  I really liked the effect and decided to use it again but this time as an A5 card.  I used a second piece of vellum to emboss the dotty panel again so I would have the design at the top and bottom of the card.  For stability I adhered it to a piece of white card, this also made the gold brighter. I wrapped black ribbon around to conceal the gap in the pattern and used gold peel-offs to decorate it.  The baubles, Spellbinder's stamps, were stamped onto gold card and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The name, May, was stamped in the same manner using alphabet stamps from the Clearly Hand Stamped collection from Crafter's Companion.  The brads are quite big and totally the wrong colour being plum but my trusty ProMarkers came to the rescue and I re-coloured them with black marker. I had put a mat of black card directly on to the the base card and then mounted the panel using 3D foam pads.  I also used them to fix the baubles in place and then finished off with black bows on the top of the baubles

Instead I used Letratac which is a dry adhesive and, unfortunately, it is no longer in production. I did use the 3D foam pads for the sentiment panel as it was just one layer.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Crafter's Companion Christmas kit.  All the edges or the paper and card were inked with a Memento ink pad

This is the third card that I've made using this stamp from Woodware and every one has a different look.  So pleased that I bought it :o).  It was stamped with Versafine ink and coloured with ProMarkers.  The background was made up from scraps of paper which I had stuck onto a piece of white paper.  A great way to use up those pieces which are not really big enough to keep but you don't want to throw away.  If you add the scraps as you get them you quickly get a sheet of designer paper no-one else will have.  I inked the edges of the focal image and mounted it on 3D foam pads at a jaunty angle.

Earlier in the week As You Like It posed the question as to your favourite style of card and why.  For me it's a very difficult choice as they're the styles I usually opt for, depending on the occasion and recipient.  I have already entered an elegant card so this time it's a cute one.  You can't get much cuter than children doing the Nativity.  I'm also entering it into the challenges at

I triple mounted it onto card in the rose and sage green colours and then onto a contemporary Papermania sheet in pink and grey.  I finished the design with a peeloff from Craft Creations

I embossed the gold vellum with an embossing folder by Crafter's Companion, Christmas Elegance.  I like this folder as it has both designs with a plain band across, perfect for placing ribbon. I matted it onto white card, for stability, with black brads from my stash.  I had previously trimmed the panel down to be smaller than the base card.  Black ribbon was wrapped around and secured with strong dsst.  I stamped a bauble by Spellbinder's with Versafine ink and cut it out leaving a small border and attached it to the panel with a brad.  The panel was then mounted onto the base card with 3D foam pads.  I finished it off by adding a gold ribbon bow.

To create the circles needed for the Outlawz challenge I used my Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug embossing folder on the two layers behind the image and the sentiment.  I also rounded all the corners of card and paper paper used using my Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper.  The background paper is from Papermania and the sentiment was a freebie with a magazine stamped with Memento ink.  The ink was also used on the edges of card and paper.  The main image is a digi stamp from Squigglefly coloured with ProMarkers.  The image and sentiments were added to the card with 3D foam pads

Candles 2

The challenge at As You Like It this time is what is your favourite style, cute or elegant, and to say why.  This is a very difficult choice for me as I love both styles equally.  It just depends on the reason for the card and who the recipient is.  So this time I have chosen elegant as my favourite style.  I am also entering it into the challenges at

There are some cards which have to be landscape in style.  I always have difficulty keeping them from sagging down in the middle to become flat cards!  To get over this I cut my card in two and then rejoin them along the short edge.  On the front panel, before putting the card together, I score a line about 1" from the left hand edge and punched holes in the small panel. For this card I used my Crop-a-Dile and then set eyelets into the holes.  I then tied paper raffia, from The Paper Cellar, through the eyelets and trimmed them to fit the panel.  Using strong dsst I joined the front and back panels together.  I used my Grand Calibur with the candle die from Memory Box and the largest of the Spellbinder's Decorative Labels 8.  To give a more pronounced dimension to the card I cut the centre from the Spellbinder's die cut to create a frame for the candles. The candles and frame were adhered to the card using pva. To round the corners of the white and green backing card (the green is a holly embossed card from Papermania) I used my Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper.  The green card is flat onto the base card and the white is mounted using 3D foam pads

I was looking through all my digi images to find something that wasn't flowery, girly or something that I'd used before and came across this cute image. *It was only when I was scrolling down the challenge post at 613 Avenue Create that I saw that the sponsor was the Doodle Pantry and the green, yes green, bird was in their logo! The stamp I've used is from Molly Bloom's Christmas Carnival and I coloured it with ProMarkers.  The papers are from various designers, the green Hohoho paper is from Nitwits, the green spotty paper is from Forever Friends.  The red one is from my old and ancient stash.  I cut George out and placed him on the card so it looked as though he was sitting on a windowsill using foam pads.  I stamped the sweets and, again, used my ProMarkers.  I covered them with a Versamark pad and used UTEE to make them really glossy as though they were wrapped in cellophane, cut them out and added them to the card on foam pads.  I added Glamour Dust to the white area and the spots on the paper after using a Quickie Glue Pen.  To finish it off I used a peel-off sentiment

Christmas isn't Christmas without the Snowman, and now with the Snowdog.  This is one of the other collections in the kit and, as with the Bebunni card, I used the pre-printed sheets and will use the cd-rom if I want to do it again.  I layered the image onto white card before attaching it to the card using foam pads.  I put a border of Merry Christmas peel-offs around the background paper to be the sentiment element of the card.  I added lots of Glamour dust after using my Quickie Glue Pen to give give plenty of sparkle to the night sky and the Snowman

Just for you

I don't usually buy kits as I think they can be repetitive in the design.  I thought I'd give the new Crafter's Companion Christmas kit as there seemed to be a variety of designs and quite a few free gifts.  I'm glad to say that I made a right choice.  This is the first card of what I imagine will be quite a few.  I'm entering it into the following challenges

I've made this card from the pre-printed papers that were in the pack but they are also on the cd-rom meaning I can print them off whenever I want them.  I chose the Bebunni background and three circles of the same design which have the same picture but are different sizes.  this gives a different effect to pyramage where the size of the design is the same and the layers are cut smaller.  I layered up the topper using 3D foam pads and attached the tag sentiment with a star brad

Freebie embossing folders

As the title says the main elements of the card are two embossing folders that were free with magazines. At least I'll use these more than once, not like all the free paper pads and small stamps that were just about the only freebies they used to give away.  I'm sharing this card with the following challenges

Once again I've used the Zendoodle angel stamp by Lindsay Mason.  I've coloured it with Promarkers, all pastel shades.  I've used my Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper on opposite corners of all the paper and card layers, including the base card.  I've mounted the image and the pastel rainbow paper onto pink card before attaching them to the card using my Perfect  Layers rulers to make sure the pink border was uniform.  The sentiment is one of my new stamps from Woodware and I inked it up with a Memento ink pad.  Once the card was altogether I used a Quickie Glue Pen to make dots on the white background, the angels wings and her dress, the star and the sentiment .  When it had reached the tacky stage I used Glamour Dust to add some sparkle.  A pity it doesn't show up to well on here as it is quite sparkly

I then stamped the square faux post outline using the post cube from Just For Fun Stamps onto some scrap white card.  After that I used the template stencil over the stamps.  I used a couple of green Memento inks to create the background on the stamps.  With the stencil still in place I stamped the dragonfly in a darker green on two of them and on the third I used a sentiment stamp from Sweet Stamps.  I used my deckle edge scissors to cut the stamps out and then mounted them on the card with 3D foam pads.  To finish the card I used Stickles glitter glue on the wings of the dragonflies and the whole of the sentiment.  I did this by applying it with a paint brush

Oh Christmas Tree........

I'm sharing this card with just 2 challenges, feel as though I've been linking nearly every card I make to nearly all the challenges I follow lol

Sister Act #78  anything goes

613 Avenue Create #93   anything goes with the option of CAS

I was making this card for the challenge at the Kraft Journal which was for no designer papers but we went to our son's for a few days so didn't get to sticking everything in place.  I used my Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper on all four corners of the card base. The tree is a Spellbinder's die cut using plain white card and glued to the card nearer to the top edge.  I then stuck a piece of white ric rac tape just under the tree.  The sentiment is a Woodware stamp, stamped using Versamark ink and Stampendous embossing powder

Traditional Christmas colours

This is my last post of the day!  I go for ages with hardly any cards and then do three one after the other.  Love it when my mojo is on overdrive lol

This is another card using this lovely Woodware stamp.  This time I decided to colour it with just 3 ProMarkers.  The first things I coloured were the holly leaves, this was so they would be really dry by the time I came to colour one half again and it would sit on top of the first layer.  The background papers are from HOTP and I covered the join with a border peeloff.  I adhered the Christmas panel to the card using 3D foam pads.  A completely different look to the card compared to the multi coloured version but just as nice

Angel

At Port Sunlight on Saturday I saw a card made with this stamp and it was gorgeous so I had to buy the stamp.  I'm entering my card into the challenges at

I think I will have to have some practice with this stamp to get it anywhere near how nice it was seeing the card made by the designer, Lindsay Mason.  I stamped the angel onto pearlescent paper and coloured it using ProMarkers in shades of purple and pink.  I then stamped the image onto plain white card and cut the pearlescent angel out and adhered it to the other image.  I used my Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper to round the corners of all the papers and card.  The image was mounted onto a purple paper from Papermania, using 3D foam, and then onto the background paper from a Popcorn sampler cd.  I used the sentiment that I had trimmed from the purple paper across the bottom of the card

Multi Coloured Christmas

I've fallen in love with this Woodware stamp, it gives such a clear, chunky impression making it ideal for A5 cards.  As usual I inked it up with Memento ink. I decided to give it a lively look and used lots of bright ProMarkers and I'm really pleased with the way it looks.  I inked the edges and mounted it onto red card before mounting it onto the Crafter's Companion paper on the card

Kraft Journal

The challenge at The Kraft Journal #193  is not to use patterned papers.

I'm also entering the card into the challenges at

Paper Pretties #331  clean and simple

Sister Act #77  anything goes

This is the first card I've made using my new Spellbinder's curved border dies.  I'm very impressed with them :o)  I used Spellbinder's Nestabilities dies plain and scalloped ovals.  To tie the scalloped oval to the white border I used a pokey tool to create holes to match I love white on kraft card so it wasn't difficult for me not to use any patterned papers.  The stamped image is from Circa Design inked up with Versamark and embossed using Stampendous embossing powder as was the sentiment. I cut the flower out and mounted it onto the ovals with 3D foam. The sentiment stamp is from Sweet Stamps.

Sweet Poppy stencil

Each year I use this I try a different technique to keep the design fresh.  I'm entering it into the following challenges

This card is using the Sweet Poppy stencil using the artwork of Lavinia Stamps.  I used various autumn toned Memento ink pads randomly over the stencil.  I layered the image onto three different coloured cardstock picking out colours from the inks used.  To finish the design I added a few gems

Lost in a book

As well as crafting I love reading and I remember how easy it was to get lost in a book as a child.  We were brought up with a love of books and we have been the same with our two children who are both avid readers.  This image from LOTV really reminds of my childhood.

I'm entering this card into the following blogs which all have an anything goes challenge

As I said earlier this is a LOTV image and I've coloured it using ProMarkers.  The sentiment is from Sweet Stamps inked up with a Memento ink pad.  The background papers are from the Papermania Colossal paper stack which I've had for ever and a day and I don't think it will ever run out lol  I covered the join of the papers with some sheer, silver edged ribbon and added some flower brads

Winter Birthday Card

I've made this card for our son-in-law.  Elizabeth and Martyn both love penguins so anything with a penguin on is usually well received.  Of course while we're having our winter the southern hemisphere is enjoying summer.  The image of the penguin with a surf board amused me as Martyn comes from one of the top places in the UK for surfing.  I also made it a blue theme as he is an avid Chelsea fan.  I'm entering it into the following challenges

The image I used is a digi stamp from Bugaboo, love their stamps.  I coloured it with my ProMarkers and then tore the card all round the image.  I printed the sentiment using Microsoft Word and tore around that too.  They were both adhered to corrugated card using Pinflair gel after I had roughened the edges with the blade from my scissors.  I distressed all the edges thinking of mimicking items that had been washed up on the beach.  The two panels were then mounted onto foiled snowflake card from Kanban and then onto plain blue card.  The design was finished by the addition of Card Candi which I had altered the colour of with a ProMarker

The stamp I used was of a design by Gary Patterson and I coloured it using ProMarkers.  The background papers are from Crafty Individuals and I mounted them onto burgundy cardstock. I mounted the image onto the same cardstock and then onto gold to give it more definition.  I used gold happy birthday peeloffs on the cardstock and borders along the sides.  I used the computer to print the outline of 60 onto the Crafty Individuals paper.  I cut them out and mounted them onto burgundy cardstock before placing them on the gold cardstock, slightly overlapping the numbers.  I then cut them out and mounted them on 3D foam on the card.  I finished the card by stamping Happy Birthday with Adirondack ink pad and my favourite no name sentiment stamp

The paper that I used is a Crafter's Companion one from a sampler disc.  I arranged the folded papers on a pearlescent card which is embossed with Merry Christmas.  I then layered it onto the silver version of the same card.  What I should have done is adhered the pearlescent on the silver so that the wording matched up.  At least I know for next time I use these cards. The layers were then added to a plain white base card.  To finish the I added a peeloff silver star to the tip of the tree and put glitter glue on the edges of the tree

I  love the detail in this stamp from Stampendous.  I always get a good crisp image and it embosses well too.  For this card I just used a Memento ink pad on the stamp and around the edges of the topper and the paper behind it.  The paper is from a Popcorn cd-rom from Crafter's Companion. The stamped image was mounted with 3D foam pads  A very quick card to make so well suited to batch making

I couldn't resist this snowman from Leane Creative.  It also has a matching die which cuts the snowman exactly but I like my dies to be multi-functional so resisted the urge to buy it.  It was stamped with Memento ink and coloured with ProMarkers. Glamour Dust was added using a Quickie Glue Pen. The image was mounted onto silver mirri card and attached to the card with 3D foam pads.  The papers are from Nitwits Great White North collection.  I added silver peel-off border over the join of the papers and a silver sentiment in the lower right corner

This is the first time that I've used a stamp from Leane Creatif and it gave a good clear and crisp image to colour.  The image was inked with Memento ink in black and used a red pad to go around the image card. I used my ProMarkers to colour the image and added highlights using a Quickie Glue Pen and Glamour Dust.  All the paper panels, from HOTP, were edged using gold peel off borders in gold from Craft Creations. I finished the card by adding a gold peel off sentiment

I just love this image from Little Claire.  The papers that I have used are from Forever Friends and they're nearly all gone now.  Good job I like patchwork as I think that will be all I can do with them.
I stamped the image with Memento ink and edged all the papers too. After colouring the image with ProMarkers I added highlights using a Quickie Glue pen and Glamour Dust.  I also added some shine on the baubles using a clear glaze pen.  The image panel was added to the card using 3D foam pads
