Creative Card Crew #28

Over at The Creative Card Crew our 28th challenge is to make something girly.  I'm sure that you'll all enjoy this challenge using lots of ribbon, lace, flowers and,of course, pink lol.  While I love looking at people's highly embellished cards I have great difficulty in putting one together without it looking as though I've put glue all over the card and thrown everything at it in the hope that it will look good!!!

We have the wonderful Crafty Sentiments Designs

I have used the rubber stamp, Sweet Treats, which I was lucky enough to win on a past Crafty Sentiments Designs challenge .  I have now sent this card to my niece for her birthday.  I hope that she liked it,

I stamped the image with a black Memento ink pad  and coloured using ProMarkers.  The lightest background paper is from My Mind's Eye and the darker one is possibly a Unity paper. Please let me know if anyone recognises it with the correct info. I used a Memento ink pad to colour the edges of the papers and the card with the image on it.

I decided to do something different to the inside of the card this time.  I used the Papermania Typography stamp Happy Birthday and printed it on to the same light background paper that I had used on the front.  I then cut the words out and stuck them down using Letraset Letratac which is a dry adhesive giving edge to edge adhesion

And Disaster Strikes!!!!

"Well the weather outside is frightful" as we have the white stuff and it's still coming down, although not very heavy.  I went shopping today as I needed to get a couple of ProMarkers for Elizabeth's wedding stationery and when I got back I could hear a noise like a jet engine starting up, but not quite as loud lol  I followed the noise into the kitchen and it was the boiler!  It really sounded as though it was getting ready to explode so I turned it off.  It started making the noise again when I switched the hot water tap on (it's a combi boiler so heats the water as it's needed) I rang the maintenance people and the earliest someone can come out is Saturday.  It's a good job that we've got a really good gas fire for heating downstairs but I think it will be socks on in bed tonight.  I've tied wool around the hot taps in the bathroom and kitchen to remind us not to use them lol

I hope the trains aren't badly affected as Elizabeth is supposed to be going to Torquay tomorrow afternoon as her goddaughter is getting Christened on Sunday.  If she gets there it's hoped that she can get back home on Monday.

A Bit of Sparkle and Shine

I've made this card for the challenge over at Crafty Sentiments Designs which is to have sparkle and shine/glitter

I've used the image Scilla Fairy from Crafty Sentiments and coloured her with my ProMarkers and added some Glamour Dust to her wings.  The circles were cut using Nestabilities dies and the Grand Calibur.  The scalloped die cut is rainbow holographic card and I finished the design with pink sparkly ribbon

Sewing for Christmas

I've been doing wedding stuff again today so I thought that I would show you some of the presents that I made for Christmas

The first doll that I made was the smaller one for my great niece, Erin, and I really wished that I had done the larger size for her as well as the one for my granddaughter Bronwyne.  The small one was soooo fiddly, doing the arms and legs especially.  The big one was so much easier and I'm pleased to say that they are loved!

My daughter in law, Aisling, loves to wear an apron when she's baking or cooking so I thought that I would make matching ones for her and Bronwyne.  The plain fabric is actually a tiny polka dot print but it doesn't show up in the photo.  They are both reversible and they're wearing opposite sides.  The pockets are done with the main fabric of the reverse.  Bronwyne loved 'helping' us in the kitchen when we made mince pies and Christmas cookies.  They're both wearing their Christmas slippers too, but I didn't make them lol

Word Art Wednesday #62 part 2

Of course, after I had made my Word Art Wednesday  journal I just had to fill the first page!

Even though I haven't done any pages for ages I have still been saving all the word art and I already had a few printed out ready on some Safmat from Letraset , they're having a sale so pop on over and grab a bargain!

To create the page I used Adirondack inks with a foam pad to colour it.  I stamped the butterflies using a Memento ink pad, stamp from Dimension Stamps, on the page and then onto paper from the Papermania Colossal stack (is there no end to this paper??????) and cut them out omitting the the antennae as they were already printed on the page.  I used Letratac which is a dry adhesive perfect for edge to edge coverage and fiddly items like letters and numerals, to adhere the butterflies to the page covering the previously stamped images. I completed it by adding the scripture.

Word Art Wednesday #62

I decided to take a break away from colouring penguins for Elizabeth's wedding stationery and do something for myself today.

I've had the covers and pages cut for ages to start my new Word Art Wednesday journal but just not got round to putting them together with my Bind-it-All.  Whenever I bought Ippity Stamps the lady that I bought them from used to always include a few sheets of heavy weight paper.  It's possible that they are Unity papers but I'm not sure.  If anyone recognises the paper that I've used for the cover of my journal I'd love to know the manufacturer.  The size is 5"x7" so the pages are just like making a medium sized card

Fame at last!!

I have been published in the February issue of Craft Stamper, yeyyyyy!
The project was done to tie in with a challenge from Word Art Wednesday about friendship.  Do check it out, it's a lovely site to visit.  Here's the article

Sorry that I've been absent for a while but life in the Dando household has been a bit hectic of late.  I had made quite a few Christmas presents which took up the time that I would normally on card making or blog hopping.  Plus I spent a week with my daughter in law and granddaughter just two weeks before Christmas.

Now that we are into the new year I'm now making my daughter's wedding stationery.  She wanted something a bit different to hearts and flowers and decided that their theme was to be penguins!!  I searched and searched for penguin bride and groom but to no avail.  I emailed several companies who did digi stamps  with our dilema and, I'm pleased to say, Di from Di's Digital Downloads came up trumps designing a fabulous bride and groom which we are using on all Elizabeth and Martyn's stationery.  Of course they all need colouring so thank goodness for Letraset and their Promarkers.  So far I've coloured in 124 pair of penguins for the invites and order of service.  The invitations have been posted so we're waiting to see how many are accepted to finalise how many more I need to do.  And, of course, she has to choose a colour that I couldn't find anywhere so I'm using a Promarker to colour the mat layer.  I'm on my third marker now and I'm sure that I'll need another lol

Hopefully everything will settle down now and I can get back into my card making
