Word Art Wednesday #102

Earlier in the year a dear friend tragically lost her husband.  It's her birthday this week and I was very much lacking inspiration for her card.  I'm not a great lover of what I call P & P cards. i.e. when you get a card kit where you just push toppers, or decoupage, out of a sheet and plop them on a card but I do have a couple of Hunkydory kits to fall back on.  The embellishments on this card were exactly what I wanted, just love the colours used.

I've decided to enter it into the word Art Wednesday challenge #102

The photo below shows all the layers

A little bit of green

This is the card that I made for my husband on the occasion of our 35th wedding anniversary.  I was told that jade was the gemstone to celebrate 35 years so I made the card mainly green.

I'm entering it into the challenge at Divas by Design which is to use 3 or more layers

I used three different papers from the Paper Mania colour capsule collection with a card ribbon from the same set.  I layered the topper, a Boofle image, and peel off sentiment on to green and then silver foil card and mounted them onto the card using 3D foam pads.  To give a bit of sparkle I used gem brads from my stash

Another sewing project

This is the second bed set that I have made.  I used the same idea from the first one by buying a plain white quilt cover took it apart and reassembled after sewing the patchwork to one of the quilt panels.  I think that this set looks better in the guest room than the first one.  The fabric was a single duvet cover which had a different design and colour on each side.  In order to get the design to link together was by cutting 12" squares to make a centre panel and then used a single white sheet for the borders.  The top stitching doesn't show up very well on the photos but I was a bit more adventurous this time and didn't stitch in the ditch
