Word Art Wednesday #43

The free word art at Word Art Wednesday is 3 John 1:2  You can use it for the challenge, but it is not necessary.  As long as your entry has an uplifting inspirational quote or bible verse that's ok

I am also entering it into the Stampin' Sisters in Christ #154 using die cuts.  The bunting and the flag background are die cuts

As usual I have completed a page in my little Word Art Wednesday journal that I made when I started joining in with the challenges.  Only four more pages and it is complete.  I'll have to make another but this time I'll use my Bind-It-All rather than stitching the pages in place

Materials used

My Word Art Journal
The Simply British  Collection papers and die cuts from Simply Homemade Magazine
PC generated verse
Memento ink pad

2012 Christmas Cards #39

This week's challenge at 2012 Christmas Cards is to follow a sketch.  For my card I have used it landscape rather than portrait

This is another stamp that I bought on Saturday

The three panels behind the stamped image are good for using up scraps of paper

Materials used

Stamp from Little Claire
Memento ink pads
Papers from LOTV
Quickie Glue pen
Glamour Dust
3D foam pads

Less is More #82

This week's challenge at Less is More is to follow a recipe of 3-2-1 and  I have used 1 paper, 2 words and 3 flowers

I'm also entering this into The Pink Elephant #163 which is for a sympathy or thinking of you card

I've designed this card to be non-religious as not everyone wants cards with crosses or other religious references

This is one of my most used stamps which is perfect for using up those scraps of paper by paper piecing

Materials used

Garden Poems stamp from Penny Black
the With Sympathy stamp doesn't have a manufacture's name on it
Memento ink pad
Brilliance jade ink pad
Scrap of paper from stash

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #154

The challenges at Stampin' Sisters in Christ are always based around scripture.  This week's challenge is from Isaiah 64:8 and is about being shaped by God and so to use punches, dies or any shapes

This card has been made using all new stash that I bought at the Leigh Sincerely Yours craft show on Saturday

Even though I have quite a lot of gems I bought more 3mm and 2mm as they were so sparkly.  I have tried to capture that in the photo

Materials used

Stamp from Woodware
Gem wheels from Anita's
Ink it Up! stamp pad (not new)
Tessatina die from Memory box

Christmas with the Creative Card Crew

Our challenge at the Creative Card Crew for this fortnight is to create a Christmas card

We are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps who have generously given a prize of seven digis to our lucky random draw winner

I have used the image Little Penguin Winter Bench as it is perfect for my daughter and her boyfriend as they both love penguins

I decided to cut around the image as it balanced better with the sentiment on the opposite corner

This stamp is set to be a favourite for my inserts when it's not been used as a topper

Materials used

Bugaboo digi stamp Little Penguin Winter Bench
Sentiment topper from Crafty Individuals
Memento ink pad
Papers from LOTV
Peeloff Merry Christmas border
White gel pen
3D foam pads

A Rose Creation

I'm combining two challenges into the one card.  They are

The Pink Elephant #162  to create own embellishments

Crafty Sentiment Designs  to use flowers

Since making this post I've been invited to show the card at Word Art Wednesday

I love this style of card but I'm not so good at pulling everything together.  I'm hoping that it's not ott on the pink as it's for a ruby wedding anniversary

The backing paper that I used was an A4 landscape design with the opposite corners being printed with the rose design.  I used the top right hand corner of it by cutting it out and placing it onto the top right hand corner of the card. I coloured both the doily and the cotton lace with a light fawn Flexmarker

I used the Spellbinder's Rose creator dies to make the flower which is held together by a brad which I have covered with Card Candi

This picture shows how I have overlapped the doily with the background paper

Finished off with a greeting and an acetate butterfly

Materials used

Spellbinders Rose Creator dies
Raspberry Road designer paper
Nitwits paper for the rose
Cotton Lace
Paper doily
Spellbinders scalloped circle die
Memento ink for the edges of the petals
Rose sticker from stash for the leaves and stem
Card candi and brad
Acetate and peel off butterfly
Peel off sentiment
Pinflair 3D gel

What a Surprise!

The postman delivered a package from  Letraset, I hadn't ordered anything and didn't recall entering any competitions with Letraset goodies as the prize.  Here is what was in the package

 Neon Markers

They're the same colours as highlighter pens but they don't have a chisel end, instead it's a brush and a bullet tip.

I love the Promarkers and the Flexmarkers.  In fact I've ordered the summer and autumn limited edition pens and can't wait for them to arrive along with a couple of storage cases and some Letratac (another favourite product) dry adhesive sheets.

Teddy Bears Picnic

I've had this decoupage for ages, a freebie with a magazine.  I was just browsing through my stash hoping that inspiration would strike and it did lol

I am entering into the following challenges
A Gem of a Challenge to use animals or teddies

Ready Teddy Go anything goes

Normally I would have gone for a lighter and more flowery look to my papers but I thought that using a darker toned papers would make a change and get me to use some of the papers that I have previously just looked at and admired lol

A close up to show the layers of decoupage, looks as though there are two straws in the glass

Materials used

Decoupage a magazine freebie
Papers were a free gift in an order
3D foam pads
Carl corner rounder

Word Art Wednesday #41

For each challenge at Word Art Wednesday Karen supplies a freebie Bible verse or inspirational quote.  You can download it for use in any project but are not restricted to use it in the challenge.  You can use any Biblical or inspirational verse that you wish.

With this in mind I have opted not to use this week's quote by Mother Teresa but to use a Bible verse instead, Joshua 24:15

I usually colour this image with my Promarkers but decided to paper piece it this time using scraps of paper

By paper piecing it has added depth to the image so that you can "see" through the windows to the room beyond.  It shows that you don't need to add gel or foam pads to lift a design

I love the fonts that are used for the sentiment and , of course, no project is complete without using inks to distress the edges of the papers lol

Materials used

House and sentiment stamp from Ippity
Heart stamp from Hero Arts
Memento ink pads
Background papers from HOTP
House papers from scraps box

Computer probs and Blog Candy Winner

The important news first :o)  the blog candy winner is..... Sheena!  Well done and can you email me your address so that I can send your goodies to you.  I hope that you like it.

Now to the computer problems.  I didn't have the computer on much over the weekend as I was busy sorting stuff out, washing, ironing, and housework after being at my son's house for a week.  I only had it on to check emails and upload all the photos and videos that I took of Bronwyne while I was there.  Turned computer on yesterday and it crashed!!!!!  Thought that I was going to lose everything that I'd just done as I hadn't backed it up.  To cut a long story short I eventually managed to recover everything.  Phew, what a relief!

Here's a photo of Bronwyne on her first birthday

Creative Card Crew #17 DT card

For our new challenge at The Creative Card Crew 17 we are asking you to use maps/newsprint/sheet music.

We are being sponsored for this challenge by Simon Says Stamp who are providing a $20 store voucher for the winner of the random draw

Check out my fellow teamies cards either from the Creative Craft Crew blog or their blogs through the links in my left hand side bar

The spec of maps/newsprint//sheet music allows for a great diversity of styles from vintage to funky modern.

It doesn't show up very well but I have added Glossy Accents to all of the headlights.  I haven't raised the car image as it didn't look right with the cut off

As the elements are only paper I have backed them with cheap photo paper to give a bit more support when adding dimension

Materials used

An old road atlas for the background paper
Memento ink pad for the edges of the paper
Elements from Kanban
3D foam pads
Glossy Accents
Photo paper

Happy Bear-day!

This month's challenge at Ready-Teddy-Go is anything goes so I am entering Bronwyne's birthday card

Check yesterday's post for Birthday Blog Candy here

This is my favourite stamp for birthday cards for the very young, although I have used it for adults too

I edged all the mats and papers with an ink pad.  I also added glaze to the balloons

I personalised the backing paper and over printed with the 1 in the centre of it.  I then cut it out, which can't be seen as it is underneath the topper, and backed it with photo paper for stability.  The glaze on the number isn't quite dry giving a milky appearance

Showing the depth of the decoupage and the glaze on the balloons
Materials used

Teddy stamp by Penny Black
Memento ink pad
Glossy Accents
3D foam pads
Nestabilities square and scalloped square
Computer generated backing paper
MME backing paper

More Flowers

Another entry for the Divas by Design challenge #46

Unless you live in Wales it is very hard to buy personalised gifts for our granddaughter Bronwyne.  I decided to make a door plaque for her bedroom as one of her gifts

I was going to do a rectangular plaque but I spotted this in a sale basket in a local craft store and had to buy it.  I covered both front and back with paper, the back being a plain pastel pink

This fairy stamp from LOTV was perfect for placing her feet at the base of the heart leaving plenty of room for Bronwyne's name

I had the matching ribbon, by chance, in my ribbon box, and attached it using eyelets.  After I had put the words on the heart I felt that there was still something missing so I went round each letter with a ProMarker and it looked so much better

Keep a look out for Bronwyne's Birthday Candy on the 5th!

Materials Used

Wooden heart from Kars
Papers from Papermania Capsule Collection
LOTV fairy stamp
Quickie Glue pen
Glamour Dust
Crop-a-Dile eyelet setter and eyelets
Olivia alphabet dies from Cuttlebug
Pinflair 3D gel

Bye-bye again!

It doesn't seem five minutes since I came back from my holidays and I'm off on my travels again.  This time I'm going to stay with my son and his family for a week.  Our granddaughter, Bronwyne, will be one year old on Sunday, how time flies!

I've been trying to set up a birthday candy give away by altering the date of the post to the 12th but it just keeps being set as a scheduled post on the 12th.  If anyone can guide me down the correct path I would be grateful

I have made a couple of cards which I'm going to schedule over the next few days.

Flowers for Divas by Design

This week's challenge at Divas by Design is to use flowers.  A week or so ago I mentioned that I had bought some fabric when I was holiday.  I have finished my bag now so I'm entering it into the challenge.  I hope that it qualifies with it being "any other project"

Everything I needed to make my bag and a picture of the bag.

I'm really chuffed that it looks exactly like the original

A close up of the slider buckle to adjust the length of the strap.  I did worry that I would put it together the wrong way round and the buckle would be on the underside but it was ok, phew!

I covered the button with the main fabric ensuring that a flower motif was central on the button.  Pleased with the pleats too, they lined up perfectly.  What you can't see is the magnetic closure, another first for me, and a zipped pocket on the inside.

Materials used

Pale green lining fabric
Solid colour fabric for contrast
Floral main fabric
Magnetic closure
Self cover button
D rings for strap attachment
Slider buckle to adjust strap length
