ABC Christmas challenge

The current challenge is the letter B. To use bear(s), bunting/banners/brads/buttons/bows and blooms. I thought that this Forever Friends decoupage fit the bill nicely
http://abcchristmaschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/01/b-for-bears-and-bunting-banners-brads.html

I haven't done much else to the image or the background, I felt it was right just the way it is

I like a nice solid greeting with a CAS design

It doesn't show on the photos but I have added clear embossing to the ribbon and bow. It gives it a nice satin look

Showing the dimension in the design

Materials used

Forever Friends decoupage and backing paper which were a freebie in a magazine
Clear embossing powder
Versamark pen
Collall 3D gel
Anita's border peeloff

Word Art Wednesday

The challenge for this weeks challenge was to use the Bible verse "I prayed for this child and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him" 1 Samuel 1:27 I thought that it would be ideal to use it in this scrapbook page of my granddaughter, Bronwyne.
I also used a sketch by Marsha Valk in this month's issue of Scrap 365 magazine

When I was looking for papers to use for this layout all the baby style papers that I had looked washed out and completely un-inspirational. I ended up using these very vibrant papers from Kaisercraft's Candy Lane range. For all the colour in them I think that the photos still catch the eye as being the focal point of the page

I decided that I wanted to make all the flower embellishments as the papers are all double-sided so I had plenty of choice of co-ordinating patterns. I enjoy making these rosettes and often use a border punch or a pattern cutting blade. I used an ink pad to edge some of the flowers

The sketch shows the journalling under the photos but my writing is so bad that I can't have it on show lol

I cut a line across the page and used it to hold tags where I had done my journalling. I inked the edge of the cut to give it definition

I left a gap in the adhesive for the photo panel by the group of flowers at the top of the layout

I used the gap to put another hidden tag, this time with the Bible verse on it

Materials used

Kaisercraft papers and tags from the Candy Lane range
Buttons from stash
Paper string
Card Candy
Collall 3D gel
Memento ink pad Rose Bud
Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet dies

Fairies and Fantasy

This is the DT card I have made for the Creative Craft Crew challenge #3, Fairies and Fantasy. For this challenge we have been sponsored by Michelle Perkett Studio. You can visit her shop by clicking on the link in my left side bar

Allsorts #139 to use one or more hearts
http://allsortschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/01/one-or-more-hearts.html

I chose to use the image Lilly the Fairy of Enchantment. It was sooo hard not to use my Lattice Rectangles again!! I like the way the border turned out and I used the punched hearts on the corners of the image with Collall 3d gel to give a lift

I've used my Liquid Pearls again but they're still the wrong shape lol. I hope that they resemble pearls enough for them to be in the Whimsy stamps challenge. I must practice, practice, practice

Such a pretty face

Happy Highlights and Christmas

I'm entering this card into two challenges

Papertake Weekly Happy Highlights, using gloss or glitter
http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/2012/01/happy-highlights.html

2012 Christmas Cards #8, colouring
http://christmascardchallenges.blogspot.com/2012/01/2012-christmas-card-challenge-week-8.html

I really like this stamp which I only used once for Christmas 2011 but I'm intending to use it as my card for friends and neighbours this year so I'll get plenty of use from it.

The gloss on the baubles isn't quite set as yet, you can still see some opacity on a couple of them. I wanted to make sure that I could get the card uploaded in time for the 2012 Christmas card but I'm in plenty of time :o)

My cutting out around the image isn't too bad but wouldn't it be lovely to have a die to do it for me by Christmas. Me thinks I might get in touch with LOTV to see if there is anything in the pipeline

Materials used

Image stamp from LOTV
Sentiment stamp from Dovecraft
Memento inkpad Cottage Ivy
White gel pen, for highlighting on the baubles

Crafty Creations Valentine

I've made this card for the Crafty Creations #153 Valentine challenge and, of course, my hubby lol
http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/2012/01/153-valentine-theme.html

Before I show you the card I must tell you of some spooky goings on in my craft room. I did a stocktake on Sunday of all my envelopes and I came across about half a dozen that are all non-standard sizes and decided to use them for family cards. Because of the size I am having to cut my card blanks to size. That is what I've done with this card. I measured the envelope and made the card blank, decorated it and now there is no sign of the envelope anywhere!!! I've had all the boxes and files that I have used this morning, in case I've put it in them by mistake, but no joy. Looked in my rubbish bags, down the radiator (it was on the window sill at one point), been on my hands and knees looking under the table and cupboard still no sign of it. The weirdest thing about it is that it's BRIGHT green so how on earth I can't see it I've no idea. If it doesn't come to light by Valentine's day I'll have to make an envelope to fit the card that I made to fit the envelope that I've lost lol

Once again I'm using the Lattice Rectangles Nestabilities. What did I use before I got these? lol

H for Happy Birthday

I have made this card for the ABC challenge blog, H for Happy Birthday
http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com/2012/01/h-for-happy-birthday.html

Lilac is one of my favourite colours to use on its own

I put the iridescent butterfly peel off onto some lilac paper to give some sparkle

I made the white border by using one of the Edgeability embossing dies and then cut it out following the edge of the embossing

A close up of the layered flower

The edges of both the papers were done with an Edgeability die

Materials used

Papers from stash
Goldlabel iridescent butterfly
Spellbinder's Edgeabilities Classic Bracket for the edges of the papers and Classic Postage Stamp for the white border
spellbinder's Blossom dies
Adirondack Cool Peri on the flowers
Memento Lulu Lavender for the sentiment
Sentiment from Woodware's Tiny Phrases
Collall 3D gel

Less is more bird #2

My second entry for the Less is More challenge #50, a one layer card with birds
http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2012/01/week-50-one-layer-birds.html

I love this stamp. The wren is my favourite bird.

On a layered card I usually cut around the border using a deckle edge blade or scissors, it looks really good

I masked the image off and added post-it notes to leave a gap where I could add a "ribbon" border

A simple sentiment finishes off the design

Materials used

Crafty Individuals stamp CI287
Clarity corner stamp, for the ribbon
Woodware Tiny Phrases
Memento Tuxedo black ink pad
Versafine Smoky Grey ink pad

Less is more bird #1

After last weeks misunderstanding of the rules I hope I've got it right this week. The challenge #50 is a one layer card, to be printed/stamped direct onto the card

http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2012/01/week-50-one-layer-birds.html

I feel as though something's missing with no layering lol

The sequin waste provided a pseudo layer :o)

This sentiment fitted the bill (no pun intended!) exactly

Materials used

Crafty Individuals stamps CI234 and CI287
Memento Cottage Ivy ink pad
Rangers Cloudy Blue ink pad

Cat and Mouse

I'm entering this card into four challenges. That's if I remember to do it!! Looked at a couple of blogs where I'd entered cards to look at other entries and, lo and behold, no card from me!! One of them had closed so I've completely missed that one but managed to sneak the others in lol

The Pink Elephant TPE131 is to use your favourite colour(s)
http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/2012/01/pink-elephant-tpe131.html

I Love Promarkers #100 is an anything goes challenge
http://ilovepromarkers.blogspot.com/2012/01/challenge-100-anything-goes.html

Whimsy Stamps #22 is the colour combo blue and brown, one of my favs
http://whimsyinspires.blogspot.com/2012/01/challenge-22-colour-combo-blue-brown.html

Catch the Bug is it's second birthday celebration week so a birthday card is required here
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/bugaboo-is-turning-two-its-time-for-our.html

I've been making quite a few square cards lately. I'll have to start using up all the strips of card that I'm cutting off the A4 sheets

I've had these papers for a few years and just kept looking at them. I deserve a medal for actually using them lol

The cat looks as though he's had more than one glass of bubbly!

The little mouse is adorable

Materials used

Image from LOTV
Promarkers
Papers from a 12x12 paper pack from Papermania
Foam pads
Crop-a-dile Corner chomper

Celebration of Nations

Challenge #137 over at Allsort's is to create a project centred around the colours of people's flags or about the Olympics

I chose to go with the colours of the Union Jack rather than anything sporty

I really like this decoupage but I've no idea which company it comes from. It was in a mixed pack that I bought ages ago from ebay. If anyone recognises it I'd love it if you could let me know :o) It's die cut too so no fiddly messing about with the flower stems

Only three of the flowers are layered, so again no fiddly stems or leaves to wrestle with

The flowers are so pretty and one of my favourites

Showing the depth of the layers

Materials used

Unknown decoupage

Seeing Red, Creative Card Crew DT

Our second challenge of the year at the Creative Card Crew is Seeing Red and is sponsored by Pizzazz A Plenty. Again, apologies for no direct links but Blogger is still not behaving properly

My very dear friend, Trish sent me the Spellbinder's Lattice Rectangles Nestability dies for Christmas so I decided to make her a thank you card using one of the dies

I am really pleased with this card, I think that I'll be making more like this one.

I created the flower embellishment using a flower loom and paper string. I didn't have any red string so I stamped the red ink pad on to my glass cutting mat, misted a bit of water into it and then let the pink paper string soak up the colour

A simple sentiment finishes the card nicely

Materials used

Spellbinder's Lattice Rectangle dies
Cuttlebug
Sentiment from Clearly Hand Stamped from Crafter's Companion
Ink It Up red ink pad
Paper string
Button
Flower Loom, free gift with this month's Simply Homemade magazine
Stix 2 large Glue Dots

Stash sale

This is a sticky until Sunday, please scroll down for current posts

I've put a link in my left-hand side bar to some stash goodies that I've put on E-bay. I've got quite a few on so you'll be able to access them from the one item that I've linked to.

I've still got more to put on but they're mainly papers eg full sets from past Making Cards magazines or compilation packs from kits not used. I'm trying to be ruthless but it's oh so hard :o(

Thanks in advance if you have a peak :o)

Faith Blooms

I'm on a roll with all these cards I've made this week!!

I'm entering this card into the following challenges

http://stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/2012/01/challenge-121-phil-23-4.html #121

http://paperprettiesblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/paper-pretties-wednesday-challenge_11.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FVtHto+%28Paper+Pretties+Blog%29

Word Art Wednesday #10, the challenge this week is based around the scripture Genesis 2:24 but any project of faith or inspirational quotes is welcome
http://wordartwednesday.blogspot.com/2012/01/word-art-wednesday-challenge-10.html

sorry about the long links but Blogger still won't let me post links properly

I decided to make this a gate fold card to give a separation between the two parts of the sentiment but I don't think that you can get a good photo of it standing up and laying down isn't perfect but it will do

The first half of the sentiment. I stamped the background of the toppers with the same stamp as the coloured image using Memento Desert Sand ink pad

The second part of the sentiment

To stop the paper string from slipping I cut tiny notches into the card to grip the string. I distressed all the edges of the toppers and card.

Materials used

Faith Blooms from Ippity Stamps
Memento ink pads for stamping
Tim Holtz Vintage Photo for distressing
HOTP backing paper
Paper string
Collall 3D gel
