Crafty Individuals September challenge

As always, on the last minute with a challenge entry.  I tried to upload it yesterday but my internet kept going off.  This project, for Crafty Individuals is the fruit of a sleepless night, at 2am eventually decided to get up and do something rather than laying awake listening to hubby snoring.  You don't realise how noisy crafting is until you do some in the middle of a night and trying not to wake everyone else up lol

This is one of the mini printer's tray from Crafty Individuals and is perfect for small stamps, again all from CI and the paper too

I painted the tray with white acrylic paint before adding the papers.  I also stamped the dragonfly on to acetate which I coloured on the reverse with Promarkers.  We've had quite a few dragonflies in the garden this year and the majority have the most beautiful iridescent blue and purple which is why I've coloured this one in those colours.  I used Promarkers to colour the little bird house

A close up showing the acetate wings which I had cut from the full image

Word Art Wednesday #46

When I looked at the challenges for Stampin' Sisters in Christ and Word Art Wednesday I knew exactly what I wanted to do and I'm really pleased with the result.  I didn't do this design in my journal as I wanted it to be a gift for a friend who has a birthday coming up

Stamping the leaf in different colours on different coloured papers worked so well for autumn leaves.  The background paper already had a faint leaf design on it and I pulled everything together by inking the edges of the plaque with the Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink, my favourite colour of the Memento inks

The hardest part of making this was trying to arrange the leaves in a haphazard way, as though the wind had blew them there.  I used rough string as the hanger to keep the rustic look

Materials used

Word Art from Word Art Wednesday printed on to
Safmat from Letraset
The base plaque is a page from a Papermania chipboard book
Papers all from a Costco 12x12 heavy weight paper pack
Stamp free with Craft Stamper magazine
Various Memento, Adirondack and Tim Holtz Distress ink pads
Piece of string
Leaves attached using hot glue gun

Word Art Wednesday #45

I might be on the last minute but at least I'm getting this week's scripture into this week's challenge at Word Art Wednesday lol

The word art provided for this week's challenge is Proverbs 16:3  Each week there is either a scriptural or uplifting quote which you can save for use in any of your projects but you don't have to use it for the challenge.

I keep coming back to this style, neat and tidy with not a lot going on :o) clean and simple and easy on the eye

I love it when I'm doing a project and I have exactly what I'm looking for so that it turns out right first time.  The clocks stamp was stamped onto white card  and I rubbed over it using the ink on the cut & dry from going around the edge of the card.  It amazes me seeing how far one little dab of ink can stretch.  Both tags were cut from the sheet without any need for extra additions for them to match perfectly with the rest of the card.  Looking at the topper you'd think that I had inked it for it to blend so well

Less is More #84

This card  matches up with three challenges.  They are

Less is More #84  this week it's a one layer card with the theme of foliage

Paper Pretties Monday #56  to create a birthday card

Crafty Sentiments Design  to use leaves

I used an ink pad to lay a pale background on the lower part of the card and added embossed lines to border it.  I then used the stamp in a couple of shades of green to give depth

I love this little dragonfly stamp, the way the body bends

Materials used

Foliage stamp by Clarity Stamps
Dragonfly by Laxmi Designs
Happy Birthday from Crafty Individuals
Memento ink pads
Martha Stewart scoreboard

Word Art Wednesday #45

I'm actually using last week's word art as I didn't get it loaded in time.  I quite like this one and will be entering it into the following challenges

Word Art Wednesday  "As always, feel free to save this free weekly word/scripture art to your computer. You are welcome to use it in your entry, but not required to do so. As long as you use an encouraging or uplifting sentiment on your project, that is fine."  As I said earlier the word art is from last week and is 1 John 4 v19

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #156 based on Romans 3:23-24 the challenge is to used bright colours, no brown, black or neutrals

Squigglefly #36 to use polka dots

I printed the word art digi onto Safmat and then cut the wording small enough to fit on the centre of the flowers

I cut the flowers using a Cuttlebug flower die.  With this one the centre is also cut out and I covered the centre using a white disc and added the wording.  As I was burnishing the Safmat I pressed the centre down into the gap of the flower centre.  To "amend" this I used a ball tool and pressed the white card through the gap,  I think that it gives them a button look,

And now for my card, and don't forget to take a look at my fellow teamies inspirational  blogs, links on the left side bar

I have quite a few different tree stamps and looking through them all it was this one that really grabbed my attention.  I love the boldness and the simplicity of the design

The top and bottom trees are adhered directly to the card and the middle one is slightly raised, as is the sentiment, to provide depth to the images

Materials used

Tree stamp from Nitwits
Backing paper and sentiment from HOTP
Memento ink pads

ABC Wishes

Another blue card but this time a more masculine feel than a boy one

ABC W for Wishes

Allsorts #171 to use lots of layers

Crafty Sentiment Designs male cards

I love using this stamp for male cards as it makes a bold statement depending on the colours used.  It's also useful when it is not suitable to wish someone a happy birthday, due to circumstances, in a more subdued colour way

It's a good design that works very well in a monochromatic tone

Materials used

Best Wishes stamp by Papermania
Memento ink pad
Papers by DCWV
Dark blue cardstock from stash
3D foam pads

Ready Teddy Go Numbers

I seem to be making a few blue cards lately.  This one is for the challenges at

Ready Teddy Go where the September challenge is to use numbers as well as the teddy

A Gem of a Challenge #54  A boy thing

As I was making this card without a known recipient I have made a background of numbers rather than use a specific one

I couldn't resist using this little teddy to make the card suitable for a small boy

Materials used

Morehead balloon backing paper and decoupage
Cuttlebug numbers embossing folder
Memento ink pad for the edges of the papers
3D foam pads

A Lovely Day!

No crafting today but I've had a fabulous day with my granddaughter (the world's best gold medal standard lol). My son and daughter-in-law are here too :o)  It's only been 4 weeks since I saw Bronwyne and she has developed so much in that short time.  And she loves her granny loads, I had so many hugs and kisses that I lost count, I think she's saved them all up for me.  They'll be here another couple of days before they go back home

It's a Boy Thing

To make this card I have used the CD A Year in Cards which you can buy Here on Ella's Design Blog

This is the first card that I have made using it and am very, very pleased with the results.  The papers are fab and the images are wonderful.  It's absolutely jam packed with everything you need to make a card and a gallery for inspiration

I don't usually enter one card into lots of challenged but this one fits a variety of challenges.

Paper Pretties Monday challenge #55  to make a square card

Catch the Bug  anything goes

A Gem of a Challenge #54  to make a card for a boy

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #155  a birthday card

Papertake Weekly  anything goes

Crafty Sentiments Designs  a male card

Paper Pretties Wednesday challenge #222  sport themed

I used one of the four digi stamps from the November collection and three of the four papers.  I edged all the papers with a Tim Holtz Distress ink pad

There are quite a few sentiments to go with this (or any other) card but I chose to use a stamp of my own

Materials used

A Year in Cards cd-rom from Ella's Designs
Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad
Backing card, dark blue and green, from stash
Happy Birthday stamp, I think it was in a Create and Craft kit
Memento ink pad for the sentiment
