Oswalda does Christmas

Christmas in July seems to have affected the weather here in not so sunny Wigan! Would you believe that I've had to put the central heating on to try and dry the washing? I'm certainly not impressed although I think my son and all the troops out in Afghanistan would appreciate a bit of cooler weather. The temperature is about 35C in the middle of the night reaching as high as 57C during the day. They are seriously silly temperatures

On to my card which I'm entering into 2 challenges calling for Christmas in July

SundayswithCrissy challenge #7
IlovePromarkers challenge #25

I could quite happily done lots more layers of decoupage using this image but I might have had some difficulty in finding an envelope the right size!

A side view showing the layers of the decoupage

I used
The Oswalda digi stamp from Crissy at Squigglefly
Background papers from Kameo Kards
Sentiment from Craft Creations
Promarkers in cool grey 2 & 3, amber, saffron, gold, sunkissed pink, satin, ruby, lush green, true blue, blue pearl and pastel blue

Summer Lovin'

I really enjoyed making this little card, it brightened up a dismal day. Unfortunately I didn't have any Neapolitan ice cream or I would have joined this cute character :o)

I'm entering this into two challenges
Craftycreations challenge#78 Summer Lovin'
Catchthebug challenge Summertime
I printed the image three times and decoupaged it to give a bit of life to the character. I couldn't believe it when I was looking through my papers that I found a sentiment with Summer lovin' on it AND it matched my colour scheme!!!!

A close up to show the decoupage and the frosting on the ice cream. The hat bobbles and the wings are also frosted

The image I used is Ice Cream from Bugaboo Stamps
Glamour dust
Backing papers are magazine freebies, again. I'm trying to use all my freebies up on these challenge cards so I've given myself a challenge to do just that lol
Promarkers satin, vanilla, saffron, sunflower, cinnamon, tan, caramel, baby pink, dusky pink, poppy, powder blue, pastel blue and pastel green which is sooo gorgeous. I think it's my favourite one out of all the Promarkers that I have

Thank you for taking the time to look at my cards and I look forward to reading your comments

Garden Poems

This is another Penny Black image that I was going to enter into the Penny Black challenge #1 but I missed the deadline. A whole month to do it and I miss out, DOH!
I am going to enter it into two other challenges
Peartreedesigns challenge #10 a birthday card
Sketchandstash challenge #40 follow the sketch

I'm not at all happy with the bow, it's too soft and every time I trimmed the ends they still frayed. I even tried puttng some bookbinding glue on and cutting through that when it had dried. As soon as I can I shall be buying some more ribbon of a similar width but sturdier, and will replace the one on this card! The item from my stash that is new and never been used before is the cotton lace. Using "big" ribbon and lace is way out of my comfort zone but I'm working on it lol

I might be unhappy with my bow but I am happy with my flowers. The stamp has a trio of flowers so I masked the original image, re-inked the stamp and stamped it again higher and to the left. I then trimmed the card back to the shortest stem. For the matting and layering I didn't have any cardstock to match the background paper or the leaves so I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to the size I needed and coloured a wide border using the same Promarker that I had used for the leaves

I used cardstock guessed it! The Paper Mill Shop
Penny Black stamp Garden Poem
Sentiment stamp is a magazine freebie
Versafine Black Onyx ink pad
Papers, My Mind's Eye, both freebies from magazines
Lace, ribbon and gem from my stash
Promarkers in pink carnation, fushia pink, canary, grey green and cool grey #2

Thank you for taking the time to look at my cards and I look forward to reading your comments

Toadily Happy

I really love these little Penny Black frogs (I know is says toadily but I prefer frogs lol). I've created this card for the very first Penny Black challenge which can be found here with the topic of A Burst of Summer. I think this little trio just look as though they've been let out of school for the summer!

Unfortunately the challenge ended at noon today, I thought it was tomorrow, and I've done two cards for the challenge boo-hoo, boo-hoo

I love colouring in this little hat, it's so cute
A closer look at the daisy. I've used this image quite a few times but always prefer the way this one has been coloured

I have used the set of clear Toadily Happy stamps from Penny Black
Cardstock from The Paper Mill Shop
Versafine Onyx Black ink pad
Promarkers in almond, sunkissed pink, sky, true blue, pastel blue, cerise, tan, sunflower, lime zest, pear green, bright green and cool grey #2

Tulips from Amsterdam?

This card is a bit different from my usual style. I think it's a lot bolder and a bit more "busy" to what I'm used to. There isn't any stitching on the Squigglefly image, I added it to be able to enter it into the Dare U 2 Digi challenge.

I'm entering this card into four challenges

Squigglefly challenge #59 a tent fold card
Peartreedesigns #10 a birthday card
Dareu2digistamp #42 stitching
Ourdailybreaddesigns #22 distress it

I was really pleased with the way the coloured image turned out but when I added the faux stitching I feel that it has more va-va-voom lol

I used the following materials

As always my cardstock is from The Paper Mill Shop. They've got some good offers on at the moment, especially on the pearlescent card working out at 4p and plain cardstock (depending on the thickness of the card) at less than 3p for an A4 sheet :o) If you can get to a store it's worth stocking up

Digi stamp from Squigglefly

Yellow and green striped paper from a Papermania mini scrapbook kit - Spring

Orange spotty paper by My Mind's Eye which was a magazine freebie

Ribbon and flowers from stash. The flower strip is irridescent and I coloured it with a Canary Promarker and it hasn't lost the irridescent sparkle

Woodware Tiny Phrases clear stamps

Versafine Black Onyx stamp pad

Peeled paint Distress Ink by Tim Holtz

Promarkers in apple green, bright green, tulip yellow, sunflower, canary, pumpkin, amber and a 2mm black fine liner to add the stitching

Holiday is over

Well it is for my hubby as he went back to work today. According to him my life is one long holiday lol I've not worked for 11 years now due to health issues. Didn't feel lonely without him today as I had a couple of friends visiting me today :o) I'm hoping now that I'll be able to get back into the rythmn of making cards for the challenges. I don't know what it is but I just can't settle down to crafting when Adrian is in the house.

I've got a couple of blog candy links on my side bar and I can't seem to get them to link straight through to the other sites. If you want to have a look at the candy on offer right click on the image and then open link.

CraftsU Print card

With my son being in Afghanistan I'm always on the lookout for suitable images to use when I send him cards. I found this shaped card on Crafts U Print, see the link on the right hand side. The back of the card is the same image reversed. This particular card, by Gordon Fraser, cost me 80p and I can print it as often as I want to use it. The belt and the knee pad are decoupaged, on the front and back of the card, and there are several tags to choose from. I chose the Thinking of You tag, added a brad and attached it with 3d foam pads

There are thousands of images, from backing papers to fancy fold cards available for download. So if you're ever stuck for an idea it's worth having a browse on the site.
The second card I've made this week (I'm usually making this many per day) is for my next door neighbour whose Mum has just passed away. I've used lily vellum from a Making Cards magazine, a Margaret Sherry decoupage, DCWV cardstock and ribbon from my stash

Prayer Pillow

I can now show you my latest cross-stitched project now that it has been received :o) It's a Biscornu approximately 6" across. I created the designs myself and would really like to do more cross-stitch designing but I'm doing that many different crafty things that I wouldn't be able to fit another one in on a more regular basis :o(

This is the front

The back

A side view showing the shaping that you get by stitching the two squares of fabric with a corner sewn to the midpoint of the edge on the the other square

If you're interested in owning one of my pillows, with your choice of Bible verse and colour, please email me for details

Good Luck

On Monday my daughter, Elizabeth, will be starting a new job at a stockbroker's in Manchester. I have made this card for her using Penny Black stamps, Promarkers and DCWV cardstock. We're froggy fanatics in our house so a card made with this set of stamps are always well received. I do have another project to show you but I can't post it on here until I know that it has been received. So someone who is reading this has or will receive an unexpected gift!!

I Love Digi Challenge Blog???????

I've been trying to look at the I Love Digi Challenge Blog but I keep getting a message saying the the blog can't be found. Anyone know what's happened to it?

Back home from my hols now and I must try and get back into the routine of making cards for the challenges. I might not be able to do many though as hubby has another week at home before he goes back to work.

I've been looking at the entries on blogs that I follow and I must say that there are some very talented people in Blogland, you're an inspiration!

Have you missed me?

I've not had access to the internet or a phoneline for a week courtesy of BT and O2 getting everything wrong for changing our phone and internet supply from BT to O2! We're now on line with O2 but we've had to sign up with the Post Office for a new phone line so that O2 can take it over. Complicated or what? BT wanted to charge us for a re-connection and we would have had to sign up for a 12 month contract. With the Post Office there is no minimum term so we will be able to change (all being well) to O2 and get mega cheap phone calls :o)

So access to a home phone and internet is ok but I'm now on holiday. No crafty blogging from me but as I can connect to the hotel's internet I'll be able to check out all the blogs that I follow

Bye for now!
